Chronic Illness: Finding the Root Cause
What is the ‘root cause’ of your chronic illness? 🤔
Not too many people are familiar with what more and more functional/naturopathic physicians and like-minded people are coming to discover is the root cause of many chronic illnesses and autoimmune issues: infections. 😷
Due to the compromised nature of the immune system in most all of these health issues, opportunistic viruses, parasites, fungi, and bacteria abound. 😬
An example of this is the Epstein-Barr Virus (more commonly known as ‘Mono’). It is a virus we usually contract earlier in life and the body eventually overcomes it. However, it still remains dormant in the body for the rest of one’s life. In instances ranging from physiological traumas to simple stress, this virus can reactivate, causing a plethora of symptoms, to none at all. 🤷
Another virus that can cause issues is Coxsackie A. Bacteria like Chlamydia pneumoniae can also be elevated in people with chronic illness and disease, as well as bacteria commonly related to Lyme Disease like Bartonella, Babesia, Borrelia, Ehrlichia, etc.
Candida can also overgrow in this tumultuous environment, causing other issues like thrush, gut, and frequent yeast infections. 🍄⠀ ⠀ ⠀
Parasites are also common and (contrary to popular belief) are being discovered as more common in the Western world than we want to believe (again, especially in the immune compromised).🐛
I tested positive for many of these infections, which is why I spent time in IV treatments last year. 💉 What a massive relief it was for me to discover this important information when I felt like all doctors were perplexed by my massive amount of ‘autoimmune’ symptoms. 😳⠀ ⠀ ⠀
Over my 7 year journey, I had been told that I had 12+ autoimmune related diseases when, in reality, had 0 autoimmune issues, but high infection loads of several different bacteria, some viruses, parasites, and candida. 🙊
I hope that this information comes as a relief to others suffering with no answers as it did for me.
If you suspect any number of these issues, find a doctor that’s well-versed in these areas and get tested! You may be surprised by the results. 🔬⠀ ⠀ ⠀
